Rihanna Channels Pretty in Pink at the TIME 100 Gala—the 80s Wants Their Dress Back

Rihanna looked tickled pink to be an honoree at the TIME 100 Gala at Lincoln Center in NYC last night.

The Battleship star, who also performed at the event along with R&B star Raphael Saadiq, was surprisingly subtle in a bright pink, origami-styled bust, high-low hemmed, strapless taffeta gown from Marchesa's Resort 2012 collection. She paired her look with Christian Louboutin Bois Dore crystallized heels, full dark hair and diamond chandelier earrings.

The poufy taffeta confection combined with her large 80s style curls leaves us wondering where her prom date is hiding—you can almost imagine a corsage on her wrist, right? The event feted the magazine's 100 Most Influential People in the World issue where other honorees included Jeremy Lin, Viola Davis, Kristen Wiig, Tyra Banks, Harvey Weinstein and Warren Buffett.

Rihanna shared her excitement about the honor on the red carpet saying, "I can't believe I'm sitting in one of those 100 slots. There's so many people in the world. It feels special. It really is surreal."

Yes, it is surreal. At the very least it's like a John Hughes film.
