Los Angeles Sheriff's investigators are probing the death yesterday of a woman believed to be the girlfriend of Clark Gable's son, John Clark Gable, in Malibu.

Law enforcement sources say that homicide bureau detectives responded to a call shortly before noon involving the death of a woman at the 30600 block of Morning View Drive in Malibu, where Clark Gable's trust owns a home, E! News has confirmed.

The 41-year-old woman, whose name was withheld by authorities (but has been identified in local media reports as Christiane Lange, a celebrity make-up artist), was found unresponsive at the home.

A spokesman for the Los Angeles County coroner's office says death may have been natural or accidental due to prescription drugs, and that he didn't believe any foul play was involved.

An autopsy is expected to be completed within several days, but the cause of death won't likely be determined until toxicology results become available, which can take up to two months.

Another of Clark Gable's scions, grandson Clark James Gable, made headlines earlier this year after being arrested for pointing a laser at an LAPD helicopter, and was sentenced to 10 days in jail.
