The couple has sparked rumors of a romance after both were spotted together in New York City recently, where 19-year-old Halpern, a singer who's opened for bands like Big Time Rush, was seen leaving the 18-year-old One Direction heartthrob's hotel.
True or false?
Halpern spoke exclusively with E! News to set the record straight…
First of all, hanging out with him in his hotel room (watching the movie Flubber, people!) and hanging out in NYC while he was in town for Saturday Night Live sounds as if it's just the tip of the romantic iceberg.
"He's adorable" and "a very good friend," Halpern said coyly, adding, "Who wouldn't have a crush on him?"
But Styles hasn't been talking to everyone this morning all the way from Australia, right?
Halpern, who's been working on her album in New York, admitted that she's talked to Styles several times since he left for Down Under, and that the distance imposed by his traveling schedule (the band's in Sydney right now) makes communication tough. Not to mention her own busy schedule: The "Colors" singer is slated to perform at a show in Florida on April 28 alongside One Republic and Chris Brown, among others.
She claims she doesn't have time for a serious relationship (except the one she has with her fans), what with her new single, "Straight Up Over You" dropping April 18 and all. But Halpern has also been paying close attention to how another young couple has dealt with dating in the spotlight.
The way Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez have conducted themselves—keeping quiet and then going public once they got serious—was "smart," Halpern told us.
