Some bloody good news for Chloë Moretz.

The 15-year-old actress is about to take on the titular character in a remake of the movie Carrie, based on Stephen King's novel of the same name.

Not surprisingly, Moretz couldn't contain her excitement about playing the part made famous by Sissy Spacek in the 1976 horror classic about a teenager whose telepathic powers definitely take a turn for the worse.

"Never been so happy in my life!" she tweeted today. "Thank you [director] Kim Peirce and thank u MGM for the chance of a lifetime i will never forget!"

Moretz, who made a name for herself as Hit-Girl in Kick-Ass, is arguably a bit of an It-Girl right now thanks to that film as well as her work in Let Me In and, most recently, Martin Scorsese's Oscar-winning, Hugo.

Other starlets who were reportedly in the running for the role included Dakota Fanning, Lily Collins and Shailene Woodley.

Meanwhile, Moretz will next be seen on the big screen alongside Johnny Depp in Tim Burton's Dark Shadows.
