Ali Fedotowsky fell in love on camera, but when The Bachelorette was over...
Life just got in the way.
Talking exclusively to E! News about the end of her engagement to Roberto Martinez, her first TV interview since the breakup, Fedotowsky says she doesn't think "there ever was just one moment" when they realized they shouldn't get married.
"We were really trying to make it work, and realizing it wasn't getting better," she recalls. "We were unhappy more than we were happy, and something needed to change...I didn't want to let people down. I felt anger from my followers, fans...The pressure was to make sure we did what would make both of us happy."
Fedotowsky's rep confirmed in November that the former Bachelorette, who just signed on to host a late-night travel show for NBC stations called 1st Look, and Martinez had broken up. A few months beforehand, the bride-to-be had put a stop to the wedding-planning process after injuring herself while kickboxing.
That was obviously a sign right there.
And now, her knee may still hurt, but Fedotowsky tells us she's doing just fine—for a change?!
"For the first time in my life," she says, "I'm happy with me and who I am and being single."
Fedotowsky also opened up on whether or not she plans to do Bachelor Pad; her lingering "tender spot" for Frank from her season of The Bachelorette; her opinion on Ben Flajnik's apparent pick of the litter, Courtney Robertson.
For now, Ali is moving on and focusing on her career with travel show 1st Look, which premieres April 14 following Saturday Night Live on NBC-owned stations.
