America's first idol sings America's song at the biggest sporting event in the world. How fitting!

American Idol and two-time Grammy winner Kelly Clarkson took to the field at Super Bowl XLVI to tackle the National Anthem following Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert's performance of "America the Beautiful."

So how'd she do?

Clarkson kept it simple in almost every respect, from her vocals to her outfit. The singer's rendition of the national anthem, backed by a children's choir, featured no forgotten words and no excessive vocalizing.

Beyond that, the most dramatic part of her performance was the debut of Clarkson's new blunt bangs. You like?

Clarkson is set to make an appearance on NBC's The Voice as a guest mentor for Team Blake Shelton during the hit show's second season.

So how do you think Clarkson did? Was her performance too simple for you or just right?
