Maria Bello's one babe who isn't afraid to get ugly—we're talking unappealing inner sorts of stuff, par-tick her Towelhead mom character who makes Lynne Spears look like a role model.
How did she prepare to become such an unpleasant person? "It was difficult, because a lot of actors, including myself when I was younger, think we have to find something redeeming in our characters, they have to be likeable," says M Bell. "But when I read the novel and read the script, I realized that the story of this girl's young journey is largely because of her parents, and how her mother f--ked her up in terms of her sexuality. So I decided to play her unconscious and a complete narcissist. Because I have met people like that. They actually exist. "
Yeah, like we said, in the body of book-whoring Lynne Spears, for example.
