It's not every day you get knighted, but for Salma Hayek that day has arrived.

The Puss in Boots actress has been named a knight by French President Nicolas Sarkozy, People reports.

The actress is due to receive her knightship (aka Chevalier de Légion d'Honneur) from the French leader some time in the next two months at Élysées Palace. Unfortunately, being a knight doesn't come with cool sword or anything, just a lovely little pin.

Still it's the thought that counts, and in addition to the honor of serving France, Salma is also joining an elite Hollywood club.

Past Hollywood knights so-honored by France with a Légion d'Honneur medal include Clint Eastwood, Robert Redford, Robert De Niro and Jerry Lewis (but of course!)
