In an interview with E! News about her new film Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close, Sandra Bullock shares how her two-year-old son Louis influenced her her work in the film.
Which had to help with this project, where she plays the mother—for the first time since becoming one in real life—of young Oskar (Thomas Horne) who experiences the loss of his father (Tom Hanks) in the 9/11 attacks.
"I've always been very maternal. I've always loved being around kids," she tells us.
"I'm sure Louis influenced me in ways I don't even know how. Everything becomes richer or more important or more frightening or more challenging."
So when it came to filming, Bullock felt extremely close to her on-screen son, "Thomas Horne, who played my son, I love him so much," she said, though adding that her part required she sometimes had to hold back.
"When you have maternal instincts towards a child the first thing you want to do is go to that child and just protect—and that was exactly what I was not gonna do," she aid. "It was hard."
