Nikki Blonsky totally gets that when times are tough, you gotta do what you gotta do. We are in a recession after all, so how recessionista fab is it that when the acting gigs stopped rolling in, she (literally) stuck to her day job.

As you might recall, when we last checked in with the Hairspray star's non-H'wood gigs, she was working at a high-end shoe store in NYC. Not anymore though. Nik is doing the 9-to-5 thing at a shop much more suited to her par-tick skills.

So what is this starlet doing to pay the rent these days? This just in according to her Twitter account:

"Its true Im workin@ Superstar Salon as a makeup artist & more Im proud 2 b workin & helpin pay bills BUT ill NEVER loose sight of my dreams," she tweeted last night.

Well at least it's Superstar Salon, right?!

If she's going to be working part time like the rest of us average Joes and Janes, at least it's somewhere half way glam. Ya know, minus the floor sweeping.

Oh well, she's probably got some good John Travolta gossip to chat about with the clientele, and we would give an extra large tip to anyone who had some hilar Vicey stories about the A-lister.

In fact, credit where credit's due: Nikki may be one of the most realistic (and respectable) actresses in the biz, ‘cause when times get tough at least she's not turning to some sleazy reality series or stripping down for cash.

Instead, she obtained her cosmetology license and got her hands a little dirty—only to be manicured to perfection with her employee discount later on, we're sure.

Upside is she's still auditioning. And who knows, maybe this will be the perfect training for Hairspray 2?
