It's never easy to say goodbye.

But the time has come for BFFs Shawn (James Roday) and Gus (Dulé Hill) to bid farewell next week on Psych.

Wednesday's episode, "Neil Simon Lover's Retreat," is also the midseason finale (Already? You must be out of your damn mind!), so it means we too must bid adieu—until its post-hiatus return—to our favorite detective comedy.

So are the partners in crime solving unpartnering for good?

Of course not, Sillypants Jackson. As you can see in our exclusive sneak peek, Gus is babysitting Shawn's plants (including his chatty ficus tree, Jim) while his BFF and Juliet (Maggie Lawson) take their romance to the obvious next level: a romantic spa retreat. As Gus rightly says, "That's big-time, son."

Does Shawn have something even bigger in mind—besides waffles? Only Gus knows, as he puts his real psychic powers to the test for the very first time when the fake psychic asks him to read his mind.

What truth is the Super Smeller sniffing out?

We'll have to wait until next week's episode (guest starring Jason Priestley and Jennifer Finnigan) to find out, but meanwhile please enjoy the buttery goodness that is this hilarious preview.

Psych's midseason finale airs Wednesday at 8 p.m. on USA. Good news: We don't have to wait too long until its return in the first quarter of 2012.
