But despite rumors that the 31-year-old first time mother-to-be was delaying the inevitable stork announcement by holding out for the most lucrative forum to make her by now quite obvious announcement, in the end, she made the paycheck-free proclamation her way…

Jessica teased the news this afternoon, tweeting out, "!!!ANNOUNCEMENT!!!" and linking to a message on her official site, which, unsurprisingly, was downed by the sudden influx of traffic. But no need to be left wondering—the title of her announcement post simply reads, "It's true—I am going to be a mummy."
Under that, the star got into the Halloween spirit, and posted a photo of herself wrapped up in bandages—mummy-style, get it?—while cradling her belly.
While the spooky, Halloween-themed announcement is nice to have on record, Simpson's procreation has more or less been taken as a given in recent weeks, as the singer and billion-dollar fashion mogul has taken to appearing in public with her protruding belly and—unlike in the early days of her loose clothing-favoring, denial-heavy bumpwatch—has made no attempt to hide her growing midsection. (Or, um, the other parts of her already ample figure that have grown right alongside it.)
No due date has been announced for the baby, which will be the first for Simpson and her fiancé, Eric Johnson, and the couple has not yet revealed the sex of their offspring-to-be.
In any case, let us be the first to offer up, however long overdue, an official congratulations to the couple.
