Aisha Tyler just made herself fodder for the very show she once hosted. Be gentle, Joel McHale.

The funnylady and onetime Talk Soup host is going to be doing her best to fill the gap left by chucklemeister Leah Remini and Holly Robinson Peete, signing on as the newest permanent cohost of the revamped The Talk.

As it happens, little fanfare was made for Tyler's show debut, including any outright talk of the newest face on the panel. In fact, save for her mug getting added to the opening credits, the most the ladies could muster in the first half of the show was simply an acknowledgment by Julie Chen: "Hello and welcome to The Talk everyone, and a big welcome to Aisha Tyler."

Earlier this year, the 41-year-old cut her teeth on the chat show when she was one of several women brought in as a rotating cohost when the program suffered its double departure earlier this year—Molly Shannon and Kris Jenner also each had a turn at the table.

As for the final current panel, Tyler joins Chen, Sara Gilbert, Sheryl Underwood and Sharon Osbourne on the show, which celebrates its one-year anniversary later this month.

In any case, it won't be Tyler's first time fronting a show. While most recently she took the acting tack, starring on The Ghost Whisperer, she was of course a previous host of E!'s The Soup predecessor Talk Soup and was a weeklong guest host for the Late Late Show.

Incidentally, those ladies she'll be replacing have already landed on their feet, with Peete scoring a guest starring gig on Mike & Molly, while Remini is also expected to pop back up in prime-time thanks to a development deal she reportedly just made with ABC.

All's well that ends well—though we won't hold our breath for them to return as guests on the show anytime soon.
