Kelly Clarkson on Dancing With the Stars next season?

It probably won't happen, but Tom Bergeron was certainly persuasive as he assured tonight's first musical guest that, even though she can't dance like the pros now, "We'll teach you."

But before we can bang the drum for Kelly, there are eight celebs to knock off before a mirror-ball trophy winner can be declared this season. Last night, J.R. Martinez was not surprisingly the best of the bunch, but former front-runner Ricki Lake dropped to the middle of the pack.

Considering last week's elimination shocker, who knew what to expect Tuesday?!

Well, actually, we kind of expected Carson Kressley and partner Anna Trebunskaya to get the boot.

While the Carson Nation star was always a spirited presence in the ballroom, the guy you just want to spend time with for kicks, last night's jive was pretty much a disaster and he finished in last night.

"The ultimate injustice: one week shy of Broadway week!" exclaimed Bergeron.

But a possibly relieved-looking Carson had no regrets.

"Thank you to everybody involved with Dancing With the Stars," he said. "To Anna, who's been amazing, patient, kind, a wonderful partner...This has been pure joy for me. I hope I can make people smile and laugh and have a great time."

"I want to express what a great positive experience it was," Carson concluded. "And I'll be back every week, cheering for my castmates!"

Well, he's got the outfit for it.

Almost out—though not necessarily right on the chopping block—were Hope Solo and Maks Chmerkovskiy, a surprise considering the soccer star seemed to have the "Team U.S.A.!" vote all locked up and could do no wrong.

Hope, who you can tell is fiercely competitive, looked rather concerned regardless as she and Maks awaited their fate.

Completely avoiding so-called jeopardy for the second straight week were Nancy Grace and Chaz Bono, both of whom have apparently tapped into a fiercely loyal fan base.

And friends with unlimited messaging plans are friends indeed.

The increasingly suave Rob Kardashian also seems to have found his niche, as viewers are finally appreciating just how hard the E! star is working to make his fans and family proud.

David Arquette, despite being shuttered in the bottom three, was also safe to dance another week. Which, as Bergeron mentioned, is going to be Broadway week.

Sounds saucy, so stay tuned.
