Allegations of infidelity, tabloid covers claiming love children and separate homes, and Twitter talk only fueling the fire, it's safe to say these two have definitely hit a rough patch—regardless of what's true or not.
We're totally rooting for this cougar-and-cub couple to beat the marriage odds, but in the meantime we decided to take a look back at all the gossip worthy moments:
1. Ashton and Demi Wed! After two years of dating, and despite an eyebrow-raising age difference, Ashton and Demi wed in Beverly Hills. Her kiddos embraced Kutcher as a third parent, referring to him as MOD, short for "My Other Dad"—a dad that oldest daughter Rumer Willis is closer to in age than her mama.
Prewedding, Ashton appears on Oprah and gushes to the chat queen about his love for Demi: "I love being with her. She makes me a better person."
2. Demi Confirms "Instant Love" With Ashton! After five years together, the couple seemed as solid as ever. Demi even told Harper's Baazar about her instant connection with Kutcher when they first met: "It was so disproportionate, the level of emotion we were experiencing to the time we had spent together...We used to end our calls or e-mails with 'And everything we don't say.'"
All together now: Awww. Hopefully they're remember those swoon worthy moments amid all the chaos now.
3. Demi and Ashton and Baby (Would) Make 3! Only months after her interview in Harper's, Demi revealed that she and Ashton want children: "We talk about it and it's something that we would like," the mother of three said. And what gorgeous (and we're sure funny too) kiddos they would have made.
But instead of eating for two, Demi seems to be eating for none these days.
4. Ashton Is Accused of Cheating! The traditional five year anniversary gift is tabloid covers, right? 'Cause right as the couple prepped to celebrate half a decade together, rumors began swirling—courtesy of Star—that Ashton had cheated with a 21-year-old Demi look-alike.
Ashton's attorney claimed the allegations are "an absolute lie" and demands Star issue "a retraction and an apology." Ashton also took to Twitter to defend himself, bitchin' "I think Star magazine calling me a 'cheater' qualifies as defamation of character. I hope my lawyer agrees"
But apparently Star didn't learn their lesson, because a second round of allegations emerged shortly after, claiming Ashton stepped out on Demi again, but the couple fervently denied those rumors too.
5. Ashton Is Accused of Cheating...Again! Just like clockwork: another anniversary, another round of cheating allegations by Star. And while Ashton took to Twitter to poo-poo rumors, the latest rumors from Life & Style say he's moved out of their home and Demi is having trouble maintaining her sobriety, but the nortoriously Twitter-happy couple has yet to comment.
So how did the power couple take a turn for the worst in the media? Is it the age difference, the baby talk, or too much tweeting?
One thing's for sure: the duo has an immense amount of love for each other, but it takes more than that to make a marriage work. Team Truth hopes they can work it out though. If only to provide tons more fodder for us gossip lovers!
