Keira Knightley, Salma Hayek, Jessica Chastain, Madonna, Gwyneth Paltrow, Abbie Cornish

Black or blush? That was the theme this weekend at the Venice Film Festival, when Hollywood's gorgeous stars Gwyneth Paltrow, Keira Knightley and more brought the jaw-dropping glitz and glamour to the fest's red carpet.

Which fashionista shut it down? There are so many pretty ladies to choose from...

Keira glowed at the Dangerous Method premiere in her rustic chic Valentino lace dress, pulled-back hairdo and bright red lip. The British babe stayed true to her quirky, covered-up style and looked smashing doing it.

Also bringing her A-game was Salma Hayek, who, er, flocked to the Gucci Women in Cinema Awards in a fetching feathered Gucci Premiere single-strap gown with matching clutch and dramatic updo.

It girl Jessica Chastain killed it on the carpet, too. The ginger-haired actress shimmered in a short-sleeve Elie Saab backless gown at the Wild Salome premiere. A hot red lip, stunning jewels and a loose bun finished off her ensemble.

Meanwhile, Madonna's festival style has been hot and cold, but we're def warming up to her glittery one-of-a-kind Gucci long-sleeve gown and Old Hollywood curls at the Women in Cinema awards. But why the sunglasses, Madge?

The Material Girl's former BFF Gwyneth made not a single fashion faux pas during her turn on the Contagion premiere red carpet. The actress was utter perfection in a chic Prada drop-waist gown with matching clutch, Bulgari jewels and loose locks. Best Gwynnie's ever looked?

And last but not least is Aussie starlet Abbie Cornish. The W.E. actress looked polished and oh-so-pretty in a color-block Gucci gown, Roger Vivier accessories and sleek ponytail. Eat your heart out, Ryan Phillippe!
