Antonio Banderas is really mixing it up this year.

We're already anxious to check him out (at least voice-wise) in Puss in Boots later this year, but animated romps aren't the only thing on the star's plate.

He also teamed up with acclaimed director Pedro Almodóvar for the intense The Skin I Live In, and the very, uh, unusual new trailer is here. Check it out:

Intense? Yes. Confusing? Slightly. Here's what we do know about the flick. It centers on a brilliant plastic surgeon (Banderas) whose wife was burned in a car crash. Since that tragedy he's dedicated himself to developing a synthetic skin that can withstand any damage.

And from the looks of it, developing said synthetic skin can cause one to delve into a sort of madness and obsession. We can only imagine that most plastic surgeons don't keep a young guy chained up in their laboratories as a guinea pig, but we could be wrong.

The Skin I Live In hits theaters Oct. 14. What do you think? Ready to check out Antonio in this tense role?
