William Petersen's DNA is all over this one.

The former CSI star and his wife, Gina Cirone, are celebrating the arrival of twins—a boy and a girl—born via surrogate on July 5 in Los Angeles.

A rep for Petersen confirmed the big news to E! News, saying that while the pair were born prematurely and remain in the hospital, they're doing just fine.

"[The twins] both are getting stronger every day. Mom and dad are excited for them to come home," the rep adds.

No word on the tykes' names or measurements.

The 58-year-old actor tied the knot with Cirone, a biology teacher, in 2003. He has a 36-year-old daughter, Maite, with his first wife, Joanne Brady, whom he divorced in 1981.

Petersen, who left CSI after season nine and handed over investigating duties to Laurence Fishburne (who himself just left after two seasons) recently reprised his role as forensic entomologist Gil Grissom on the hit CBS procedural in an episode that aired last February.
