Update Aug. 24, 2011: After Cy Waits entered a plea of no contest to DUI today, Las Vegas Justice of the Peace Bill Kephart handed Paris Hilton's former beau a 30-day suspended jail sentence, fined him $585 and ordered him to stay out of trouble, not do drugs and attend a Victim Impact Panel and DUI school.

Should he fail to abide by these terms, Waits could do six months in the Clark County jail.

Waits is due back in court on Nov. 23 for a progress report.

________

Paris Hilton's ex Cy Waits got fired. Then he was forced to face down an intruder at gunpoint. Then he lost the girl.

Life without Paris may be a little less dramatic, but Waits still has to deal with the aftermath of the relationship—and that means the couple's drug bust after a routine traffic stop in Las Vegas.

What's the latest for Waits in the case?

The former nightclub mogul is taking a plea deal.

Waits' lawyer, Richard Schonfeld, appeared in a Las Vegas court today on his behalf and informed the judge that his client will enter his plea on Wednesday. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

Waits was charged with one felony for being under the influence of marijuana and two misdemeanors, marijuana possession and DUI, from the August 2010 traffic stop. Cops pulled over Waits and Paris on the Vegas Strip after noticing what they believed to be marijuana smoke emanating from the windows. They searched the SUV and found a small amount of cocaine on Paris.

Hilton is currently serving a year's probation for the incident, after pleading guilty last September to misdemeanor cocaine possession and obstruction charges.

The duo broke up after hitting a rough spot in their relationship during the filming of Hilton's reality show, The World According to Paris.
