It looks like Ian Holm will get a piece of the Hobbit action after all.

Following news the much younger role of Bilbo in the film would be played by Martin Freeman, director Peter Jackson hit Facebook to let fans in on a little casting secret.

"Ian will be returning as the older Bilbo Baggins in the Hobbit," Jackson wrote Friday.

So, what prompted the filmmaker to share the news?

After a recent blog video was posted featuring Bilbo's voice at its end, fans went wild with assumptions that the voice belonged to none other than Holm. While it was actually Freeman's voice in the snippet, Jackson still went on to give fans the lowdown.

Hobbit fans seeking more information on just how the older Bilbo will play into the film's storyline will have to wait, however.

Jackson offered no further details on Holm's role.
