It's never too early to start The Hunger Games hype, even with the first film almost a year away. Hell, we talk about Breaking Dawn enough, and that final flick isn't due until November 2012!

Yesterday, we simply suggested that maybe the casting for Katniss Everdeen, the arrow-packin' teen female lead, shouldn't just be between somebody white or...white.

But, as of now, the frontrunner is...

Rumored to be Jennifer Lawrence.

We heard last night that the studio is "very interested," but that some execs on the films strongly want to cast a relatively unknown actress. Dakota Fanning's name was thrown around early in the mix, but the studio wanted a fresh face.

So they wanna make (aka own) their own superstar, ya know?

Still, some of the hottest talent on the scene, such as Lawrence, would be über fab. Hell, we still think Hailee Steinfeld would be killer in the role, and the buzz over Oscar weekend was that it might just be her.

Thing is, we just can't imagine Katniss as super blonde and fair skinned. Jennifer would obviously dye those gorgeous locks, but will they make her hit a tanning bed?

Perhaps our No. 1 front runner is Troian Bellisario from Pretty Little Liars.

The babe is über skinny, yes, but we wouldn't say she's grotesquely "underfed." Plus, her looks totally go with how author Suzanne Collins describes Katniss. But does she have that fierce attitude?

One gal supposedly in the running, and who definitely has the right attitude, is Chloe Moretz, who was, well, kickass in both Kick Ass and Let Me In.

But it doesn't matter what we think. Studio execs are patrolling the Hunger Games boards to see who the fans want most.

So now this one of your last chances to tell 'em! We hear Lionsgate wants to cast Katniss ASAP.
