Florence Welch is very much a lady, thankyouverymuch.

The British songbird wasn't keen on revealing too much of herself on her Oscar red carpet debut...

Turns out the Valentino gown she was wearing didn't leave much to the imagination. "It was really see-through," the Florence + The Machine frontwoman told me. "I wasn't quite ready to go see-though at the Oscars."

Valentino's team whipped up a flesh-toned slip to cover her naughty bits. "There wasn't much debate as to whether to keep it see-through," Welch laughed.

Not only did Welch sing at the Academy Awards, but she performed with Elton John later in the night at the music legend's annual viewing party benefit for the Elton John AIDS Foundation.

"He's just over the moon about his son," Welch said about John, who became a first-time dad with husband David Furnish with the birth of baby Zachary in December. "I gave him some baby books like Goodnight Moon and Eloise. Those are the ones I really liked when I was a kid."
