It's the showcase for Hollywood's finest and our favorite night of the year! We're talking about Oscars, of course. And while it would be impossible to pinpoint just one best or worst look in the award show's 83-year history, these two contenders would surely make the top ten list:

In 2002, Gwyneth Paltrow rocked a radical red carpet makeover—attending in a sheer Alexander McQueen top and taffeta skirt. But the most notable changes were her heavy-handed eye makeup and too-tight braid. Sure, in a dead heat Tilda Swinton or Bjork would probably take the worst dressed title but we're spotlighting Gwyneth because it's such a departure from her usually perfect style.

Walking the very same red carpet that night, Halle Berry has to be singled out as one of Oscar's most beautiful ever. The Best Actress winner for Monster's Ball wore a figure-flattering Elie Saab gown with perfectly tousled hair and flawless face. We still get chills looking at her.
