Does Lady Gaga have egg on her face?

Just two days after Gaga proclaimed that she received Madonna's blessing via email for her new hit single, "Born This Way," Madge's rep isn't exactly confirming that actually happened.

Madonna's rep Liz Rosnberg tells us that she is unaware of any email that she has sent.

On Monday, Gaga told Jay Leno that Queen of Pop approved the new tune after critics blasted the song as a ripoff of "Express Yourself."

"I got an email from her people and her, sending me their love and complete support on behalf of the single and if the queen says it shall be, it shall be," Gaga told the late-night host.

In other words, just because Madge's rep is unaware of said email, does that mean it doesn't exist? I'm told that Gaga is insisting that she did receive an email from Madonna's team. It's unclear if Madonna actually signed it.

But does it even matter? Email or not, one thing's for sure—"Born This Way" is a hit.
