Taylor Hill/FilmMagicCharlotte Ronson, aka sister to Samantha, had the must-see show of Saturday during New York's Fall 2011 Fashion Week, with a celeb-packed audience and a collection that scored a standing ovation. And gues what? It was The Daily Show and Perfect Couples star Olivia Munn's first ever runway show, where she sat perched front row next to Sophia Bush and Mena Suvari.
"It was amazing, it's my first fashion week, everything from the music to the clothing was great. I kept talking to Sophia, saying that's so me, that's so me," Munn told us.
But it's not all sweetness and light for the the sexy lady as she dishes on detractors and spills about working with fashion icon Carrie Bradshaw...
Munn fully deserved her first row seat at the show because she's finally hitting the big time. She stars opposite Sarah Jessica Parker in a movie they're currently filming called I Don't Know How She Does It.
"I'm the complete opposite of her character," Munn tells us. "She's the mom trying to do it all but we're really good friends in the movie."
As for whether you can be both sexy and funny, Munn says you can.
"Funny is more important. Sexy is easy, you get hair and makeup and a good bra and people think you're sexy. Being funny comes with life experience," she says.
And to all the people who gave her crap when she began as a Daily Show correspondent, she says that's just "one angry female blogger that doesn't know anything."
"It's closed minded people who can only live in their world where people are stationed in their boxes," she says. "I try to be the woman that my three-year-old niece would like to become. You can be sexy and funny and be it all."
We found Munn backstage amidst a flurry of commotion when Ronson's younger sister, model Annabelle Dexter-Jones had a one-of-a-kind jacket stolen she planned on wearing to her designer sister's private dinner and after party. In the middle of the room, Sam, who chose the music for the show, wouldn't talk about Lindsay Lohan, avoiding all questions on the subject of her ex and her latest scandal.
Kim Kardashian, who turned up at the beginning of the show and had her picture snapped, left because there was "too much commotion," according to a backstage source who saw Kim scoot by and scurry out before the show even started.
Meanwhile, over at the G Star runway show, Alan Cumming and Michael K. Williams (The Wire's Omar) were the big draws, with Cumming telling us some scoop from Boradway's Spider-Man:Turn Off the Dark.
"I was supposed to be in that play, but I passed," he said. "I was going to play the Green Goblin who dies in the first act, but I had something else scheduled and passed."
Cumming did see the show though, calling it "insane" and saying the kinks have still not been worked out.
"It's a mess," he told us. "I was there a little while back and a rope got caught on someone and they were stuck."
Cumming was lucky to have made it inside—the show gave out 200 extra tickets and there was a near riot in the tents when people were locked out—and locked in after security wouldn't let anyone in or out.
Let's call overbooking a show a fashion don't. Near riots, and that was only Day 3.
