We're just going to go out on a limb and say that Matthew Bomer's Neal Caffrey and Tim DeKay's Peter Burke on White Collar are the most devoted, passionately-in-love platonic crimefighters we've ever seen on TV.
The show states clearly that, canonically at least, their relationship has no nooky (Peter's married! Neal's a player!), but we swear, we are not hallucinating the subtext. As such, we were delighted to learn that when White Collar returns to TV tonight on USA at 10 p.m. we're going back to the past to find out where and when these two crazy kids first met:
As Tim DeKay explains about the much-discussed upcoming Peter-has-a-mustache episode, "It's a flashback episode—Peter wore a mustache for a few months, I think. And I did get to ride a horse, which is fun...We'll learn [in the flashback] how Peter and Neal meet, you'll learn more about what's behind the music box and who's pulling all the strings. What the music box opens up and what you see and what comes about from that, it's pretty awesome. It's priceless."
What else is in store for the boys? According to Matt Bomer, "I think Neal's dealing with repercussions of crossing the line at the end of the first half of the season. He still is intent on finding who killed Kate and avenging her death, but in a more rational way. A lot of things blossom for him romantically as well. I think he's still on the mend. For him to rush into some full-blown relationship would be kinda weird for a rebound thing, but, you know, he can still get his love on a little bit."
As for poor wounded Mozzie, Willie Garson tells no tales about what's to come: "I can't tell you either way. I'd be shot." (Ha!) Don't worry—we're told that the Mozzie storyline "resolves rather quickly," and we're pretty sure that he's gonna be all right...
