George Clooney has gravitated into Robert Downey Jr.'s shoes.

Trading hotness for hotness, the slightly grayer star will play the lead originally meant for Downey in the upcoming 3-D sci-fi flick Gravity, to be directed by Alfonso Cuarón, E! News confirmed Thursday.

After much shuffling among actresses, including Angelina Jolie, Natalie Portman and Scarlett Johansson, Sandra Bullock looks to be Clooney's leading lady when production kicks off this spring.

The fellow Oscar winners will play astronauts who are trying to make it back to Earth after surviving some sort of disaster in outer space.

And did we mention: Clooney in 3-D!
