You've got your CMA Awards, which is mostly performances plus a handful of trophy presentations. Then you've got your Latin Grammys, which also features tons of performances plus 47 trophy presentations.

And yet Juan Luis Guerra was still the guy to beat at the muy inclusive kudosfest, which honors rock, pop, urban, classical, tropical and more, hailing everywhere from Spain to Mexico to Brazil to Puerto Rico.

The Dominican singer-songwriter tied Mexican pop trio Camila with three wins apiece, but it was Guerra's A Son De Guerra that waltzed off with the Album of the Year title.

"It is very important for us to reclaim more justice, more integrity and more honesty for our countries. The time has come and we need to lift up our voices," Guerra said in accepting the night's biggest honor.

Camila's "Mientes" was voted Record of the Year and Song of the Year, beating out Enrique Iglesias' "Cuando Me Enamoro" in the process.

Nelly Furtado, who hails from Canada but is of Portuguese descent, added a Latin Grammy for Best Female Pop Vocal Album for Mi Plan to her trophy case, and also joined fellow crossover stars Iglesias and Marc Anthony on the lineup of live performers.

Spanish superstar Alejandro Sanz' Paraíso Express was named Best Male Pop Vocal Album, beating out Anthony's Iconos.

Spanish tenor Placido Domingo was honored with the Person of the Year award.

"Sadly, many artists who I have shared the stage with are no longer with us," the opera superstar said. "That's why it gives me such happiness to keep on singing and living days like this."
