Well she certainly had something new, as the wedding custom goes.

Hilary Duff, who had lost lost a tooth on the morning of her wedding, is finally revealing how it happened and no, she didn't get body-checked by her pro hockey-playing hubby, Mike Comrie.

So how did it happen?

The 23-year-old bride, who tied the knot in August, was a guest on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, where she fingered a baked good as the culprit!

"I bit into a bagel. I was sitting on the bed with my mom and my sister and they're like, 'You're an idiot you did not. Come on,' " recounted Hilary. "I burst into to tears. Then I started laughing at myself and then I really burst into tears…This is random, my amazing wedding planner Mindy Weiss…Mindy's sister's husband best friend is a top dentist in Montecito and she called him up…"

Duff and Comrie, who as an NHL star knows from missing teeth, were married in Santa Barbara in front of 100 guests.

She says she also abided by the tradition of wearing something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue.

We're sure she's grateful her rush job tooth wasn't borrowed. Or blue.
