Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong Will Join American Idiot's Broadway Cast

Rocker takes the stage in his own production

Not only is he the coauthor of the American Idiot Broadway production, but now the Green Day singer will take the stage and be part in the show!

Billie Joe Armstrong will tackle the part of St. Jimmy, a role usually played by performer Tony Vincent who is currently on leave for family matters.

If Armstrong seems at ease with the idea, maybe it's because he says the band had always produced American Idiot with the idea that would become a theater production.

"We've always though that somehow there should be some sort of stage version, because that's what was going on in our heads."

The singer will take the Broadway stage beginning Tuesday and running through Oct. 3.
