Regis Philbin is a proud Notre Dame alumnus, having graduated from the institution sometime in the middle ages. Which is extra impressive because at that time the school, and America, were both centuries away from being founded. So when his team lost on a wild play in OT this past Saturday to Michigan State, Reg was a little down in the dumps. But he sure perked right up when he found out what happened to the Michigan State coach after the game.

He could...go...all...the...way! Oh, tripped up at the three-yard line by a pesky surgeon! So close to the end-of-life-zone he could see his great grandmother! Amazing! Wait a second, it looks like Regis is throwing the red challenge flag—no, sorry, that's just the surgeon's blood-soaked glove. And this one's all over folks. He's gonna live. Another tough loss for the Grim Reaper and his assistant coach Regis Philbin.
