For the time being, there'll be no resting in peace for either Brittany Murphy or her late husband Simon Monjack.

New questions have been raised in the wake of Monjack's death over his handling of Murphy's finances in the short time between their passing: the actress' former business manager claims Monjack drained the Clueless star's bank account and shut out her extremely close mother, Sharon, leaving the matriarch virtually penniless.

And for the defense: Monjack's mother adamantly denies the claims.

Murphy's former money man, Jeffrey Morgenroth, told People that Monjack ran through roughly 80 percent of the actress' holdings in the eight months after his wife's death.

"There were huge amounts of money in [Brittany's] pension plan and bank account, and all of that's gone," he said. "I would see it on the statements. There was money being withdrawn by Simon, hundreds of thousands."

After the equally tragic passing of Monjack, the familial financial dynamic reportedly got no better.

Morgenroth's assistant, Jeannette Bycott, told People that she witnessed Simon's mother Linda Monjack ordering Sharon out of the late couple's Hollywood Hills home.

"Linda started acting like everything belongs to her," Bycott said. "Before Sharon could say anything, Linda stated the house was now hers."

For her part, Linda—the one who said she saw "black mold" in the couple's' bedroom postmortem—has denied the accusations against both herself and her late son.

"If there is money missing, I have no idea where it is. [Simon] didn't get much, maybe a few hundred dollars, and he paid off his debts with it. He was spending his time crying his eyes out most of the time. He was in a terrible state."

"I think there were financial problems [before either died]," she added. "They were certainly acting like there were problems. Sharon was asking friends for money and I don't know why."
