Despite all his rage, Billy Corgan collapsed on the stage.

The Smashing Pumpkins frontman and former Jessica Simpson wooer was rendered briefly unconscious during a performance of "Bullet With Butterfly Wings" Wednesday night in Tampa, Fla.

Lucky for himself and fans, he managed to get back up and finish the show, though it wasn't easy.

"And for those of you who saw me fall last night during 'Bullet,' that wasn't a stage move or clumsiness, that was me blacking out and wiping out," he tweeted. "I have no memory of falling against the drum riser and my guitar cabinet, but I can tell you I've got quite a bruise and am moving slow."

After getting some rest, the Pumpkins mastermind was in much better spirits Thursday, taking a tour of the headquarters of TNA wrestling in Nashville and meeting a friend for lunch as well as taking in a comedy show.

Next up for Corgan and his assortment of substitute new Pumpkin players: a gig tonight in Knoxville, Tenn., before returning to his hometown of Chicago to play a benefit concert next Tuesday at the Metro.

The storied Windy City club is where the original Pumpkins played their last show before breaking up 10 years ago. Next Tuesday's performance will raise money for medical care for Matthew Leone, the bassist for Chicago band Medina Lake.
