UPDATED: Grammer counterfiled on July 8, asking for joint custody of their two children and stating that he's asking for time to ascertain who's owed what from his Frasier days before he responds to Camille's request for spousal support.

Attention, world: Kelsey Grammer wants no part of your celebrity-industrial complex.

Unfortunately, his participation isn't exactly up to him at the moment, so the soon-to-be divorcé addressed the inevitable rumors that have sprung up in the wake of his wife Camille's divorce filing by logging on and mouthing off—albeit in a way that would make Frasier Crane himself proud.

"I would like to start out by saying that both Camille and I have sworn to avoid any public forum as we go through what is bound to be a difficult process," he blogged this morning.

"However, when faced with malicious and unfounded rumors, I will defend myself."

With that disclaimer out of the way, first up for denial is the report that the last straw in his marriage of 13 years took place on Father's Day, when he reportedly failed to phone his children. Verdict: Not true!

"The truth is that I did call my kids that evening," he declared. "Frankly, I was surprised that they did not call me in the morning but I was thousands of miles away and working that day so I didn't give it a second thought."

Grammer even said he went so far as to text his wife, Camille, in the morning to wish her father a happy day as a sort of passive-aggressive reminder (our word, not his) to his own kids.

"I love my kids and I miss them terribly," he wrote, adding that he did in fact ring them that night before their bedtime, as he always does.

"I have spoken to [daughter Mason] and her brother Jude every day before; perhaps it was foolish of me to expect a call on Father's Day, but frankly I did."

Grammer also cleared up the report that he was seen kissing a blond woman at a New York restaurant back in April. Verdict: Not true! And, may we add, ew.

"The dirty blond was my daughter Spencer, who was visiting that entire month," he clarified. "I do take issue with the characterization that we were smooching, but surely if that were the case then even I admit it might be newsworthy in some fashion."

Newsworthy, not to mention prosecutable.

"Certainly, the time will come when I do see another woman. I expect Camille to see other men. I hope people and the press will understand that we are both free to carry on with our lives. I ask that everyone remain discreet for the sake of our children; I will certainly do so."

As for the last piece of grist for the rumor mill, that the decision to divorce was a sudden one, Grammer denies there was anything rash about their choice.

"Camille and I had been discussing the possibility of a separation for some time before all this happened. She finally decided she should file. I respect her for this decision. I mean her no harm...Let me say that Camille and I shared many wonderful things throughout our years together; there were just a few things that we couldn't work out."

You see, celebrities? That's how you take the high road.
