Gabourey Sidibe may have been nominated for an Oscar, but that doesn't mean she's about to offer up any words of show business wisdom to her mom, Alice Tan Ridley.

If you don't know by now, Ridley is a singer who is currently competing on America's Got Talent

"She's been doing this since before I was born so I don't have any advice for her," Sidibe told us last night at Interscope Geffen A&M Records' post-BET Awards party at Mr. Chow.

Does mom have any hopes of doing the acting thing, too? "I doubt it," Sidibe said. "She's acted before but I don't think she likes to do it. She enjoys singing more."

Sidibe will next be seen opposite Laura Linney in The Big C, a new Showtime series about a teacher (Linney) who is diagnosed with cancer. Sidibe plays Andrea, one of the teacher's students. "She's very colorful and very loud," she said of Andrea. "She's really fun to play."

Meanwhile, fellow party guest and Karate Kid star Taraji P. Henson joked that she was upset that Orlando Bloom, one of her costars in the upcoming flick The Good Doctor, recently announced that he and his model girlfriend, Miranda Kerr, are engaged. "I thought he was going to marry me!" Henson quipped. "Actually I met the young lady. She's beautiful. She's a sweetheart."

Also at the Asics-sponsored bash were Sean "Diddy" Combs, Chris Brown, Tyrese, Fergie, Ludacris, Pharrell, Quinton Aaron, Busta Rhymes and Tia and Tamera Mowry.
