Last night Joel McHale tried to rally Conan O'Brien since the soon-to-be ex-Tonight Show host is now officially out of a job. Yes, Conan does have an extra $33 million and the public's sympathy so he'll probably pull through just fine, but that doesn't mean he's not still in need of cheering up!

All Joel could really offer was a gig cohosting The Soup. And while Conan's hero Johnny Carson never had to host a basic cable clips show, when Joel lists the perks—making Ryan Seacrest short jokes and hitting Bruce Jenner in the face until candy comes out—it doesn't sound that bad. It is the only job at E! where you can openly make fun of the homegrown talent, which has to count for something, right?
