Even if Charlie Sheen hasn't seen his 10-month-old twins, Bob and Max, since his very messy Christmas Day with wife Brooke Mueller, that doesn't mean he hasn't been able to enjoy some recent family time.

For the first time since his arrest, the Two and a Half Men star saw his daughters Sam, 4, Lola, 2, and their mom, ex-wife Denise Richards, on New Year's Eve day at their L.A.-area home, a source exclusively tells us...

"He came to their house and everyone had dinner together," the source said.

While Sheen may have put on a good face with his daughters, our source said that he is "s--ting his pants" right now.

"He's scared," the source said. "He just wants it to go away."

As for seeing Bob and Max, we're told that Mueller has no plans to return to L.A. in the near future. As E! News reported this weekend, she's likely to head to her mom and stepdad's place in Florida after her stay in Aspen.

Sheen, the source said, says he's planning on seeing Sam and Lola again soon. But don't expect Richards to be blabbing about it.

She tweeted last week "one day…I will spill my guts about EVERYTHING" after being accused of staging a paparazzi pic of her playing outside with the girls in order to get press off of Sheen's misery.

"I genuinely love to be with my girls and don't have a nanny raising them," she also tweeted. "They are my #1 priority and always will be."

Richards has since deleted the tweets.
