The Vampire Diaries' Candice King and The Originals' Steven Krueger Are Engaged

It's a match made in vampire heaven.

Candice King and Steven Krueger, who costarred on The Vampire Diaries spinoff The Originals' fifth and final season, are engaged.

"A couple of weeks ago @stevenakrueger gave me the best gift of all when he asked me to marry him," the actress wrote on Instagram May 14. "Thank you for asking me to dance through life with you."

Candice (formerly known as Candice Accola) also shared photos from the couple's engagement shoot, which showed her in a white dress and a square-shaped diamond engagement ring as she and Steven, 35, enjoyed cocktails at their "fave" bar Martha My Dear in Nashville.

Reflecting on her 38th birthday on May 13, Candice wrote that this "just might be my favorite year yet."

As she put it, "The privilege of getting older is much sweeter knowing I get to share it with you Steven."

Needless to say, Candice's former castmates were thrilled. 

"Congratulations," TVD alum Nina Dobrev—who is currently engaged to Shaun White—wrote in the comments section, while Michael Trevino—who played Tyler Lockwood on the CW series—raved, "Woo Hoo!!!! Love IT!"

Added The Originals' Riley Voelkel, "Omg screaming!!!! So happy for you both!!!!"

The engagement news comes nearly two years after Candice went Instagram official with Steven. In a December 2023 post, she shared a video of highlights from the year, including a scene of herself kissing the Yellowjackets actor.

"I laughed. I cried. I laughed til I cried. I loved," Candice wrote at the time. "Thanks for the dance 2023."

Prior to her romance with Steven, Candice was married to The Fray guitarist Joe King from 2014 to 2022. The two share daughters Florence, 9, and Josephine, 4.

"The place where our story started," he wrote on Instagram July 28, sharing photos and video from the romantic proposal inside Illinois State University's Hilton Coliseum, "and where our next chapter begins."
