Watch: Would Heidi Montag Be a Real Housewife with...Taylor Swift?

Spencer Pratt usually isn't one for regrets, but he is starting to rue the day he didn't accuse Heidi Montag of cheating when they were on The Hills.

"We were just discussing that after watching how big the Scandoval Vanderpump thing is," Spencer explained in an exclusive sit-down with E! News. "We definitely should have had more cheating in our storyline because clearly cheating now is mainstream. 'Great, everyone loves cheaters!'"

Tom Sandoval probably wouldn't agree with him, but that brand of analysis is why Spencer's fans love him.

"This is Spencer's take," Heidi added quickly. "He wanted to accuse me of cheating with [Brody Jenner]. It would have been a one-man storyline..."

So in case another reality-TV franchise should come calling, rest assured, Spencer's already packing ideas.

Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag: Romance Rewind

The call probably won't be coming anytime soon from the Real Housewives neighborhood, though. Executive producer Andy Cohen recently said that adding Heidi to the mix would be "weird" because she was already a known entity from another network's show and not, as she speculated, because he was on Team Lauren.

Andy's latest comments were "much nicer than they were in the past," Heidi told E!. "So I do appreciate him saying he doesn't want to gouge his eyes out at this point." (In 2011 he called her "trash" on Watch What Happens Live and said, "I would sooner stab...knives into my own eyes than see her on this network." He later apologized.)

Quipped Spencer, "You've come a long way from trash."

But no hard feelings from either spouse, their long memories aside. Heidi's hat is still in the ring, the 37-year-old sure she'd be great on the show and was geographically desirable, given her ties to Orange County and proximity to Beverly Hills.

But while he supports Heidi's ambitions (the loftier the better, really), Spencer admitted he'd rather not go back to being a "celebrity husband."

"Personally, I don't want to be on any Housewives franchise," he said. "I would like our own television show. I don't like sharing, I don't like casts. What I've learned from trying to do The Hills reboot is you end up relying on a bunch of image-crafting self- saboteurs. And, you know, end of the day, it technically is a team sport—and we learned there's not very many good teams to be on."

If they were to join Housewives, the 40-year-old continued, "We'd have to go to Salt Lake City. I feel like they're the only ones right now that people are talking about. But you know, The Heidi and Spencer Show is where I'm putting my energy."

While Heidi noted that doing The Hills: New Beginnings was fun, "that wasn't part of our world at the time, and it had been a long time before that. So we definitely are moving forward."

And their eyes remain on the prize.

On their latest joint endeavor, the podcast Speidi's 16th Minute, the couple were discussing with their Sept. 27 guest, Village Roadshow Entertainment CEO Steve Mosko, "what show we should do to get famous again," Spencer said, and the executive recommended a Middle America Housewives.

"So I was just thinking," Spencer continued, "since Taylor Swift is making Kansas City so famous right now, we can move to Kansas City, live down the street from Travis Kelce and do a 'Real Housewives of Kansas City.' And maybe Taylor could appear once they get married—if they were to. I mean, that'd be my pitch."

Until someone takes him up on that idea, he and Heidi are keeping busy with their sons Gunner, 6, and Ryker, 10 months, and various business endeavors—plus Spencer will be making an appearance on E!'s House of Villains, premiering Oct. 12.

"There was a mistake, I thought that show was House of Heroes when I was pitched it," Spencer said, deadpan. "Once I found out who was on that couch, I was like, 'I do not belong here.'"

Um, really? "Those people are not likable," he said of the cast, which includes Jax Taylor, Tiffany "New York" Pollard and Johnny "Bananas" Devenanzio. "I'm just honest. So, you know, that's not necessarily a villain, per se."

Heidi chimed in, "The timing was super tricky too, we'd just had a baby."

Talking about how they balance their relationship with their various irons in the fire, she stressed the importance of regular date nights to keep the romance alive—"What rating is this network?" Spencer cracked—and said that part of what she loves about making their podcast is "the car ride there and back."

She explained, "We finally just get some time because it does get so chaotic [at home]. So to be able to just have a few minutes to ourselves and to catch up and talk about our guests coming on, it's really fun. It's almost like a date day."

At the same time, she can't get enough of her kids, Gunner with his new appreciation for Pokémon and obsession with Universal Studios and Ryker starting to crawl."

"I love being a mom," Heidi said. "It's my favorite thing in the world. I love the hard moments, I love the good moments—because it's all good. It just really puts life in perspective about how quickly it's going and how precious the time is, and that you don't get things back. I'm gonna get all emotional..."

Spencer assured her, "It's okay, the makeup artist is right there."

Heidi added, "There's nothing about it, to me, that isn't amazing. It's my favorite thing ever."

And keep reading for updates on all the love lives of The Hills stars:

Lauren Conrad

After her misadventures with Jason Wahler and Brody Jenner were on display for all to see, as well as a fairly private relationship with actor Kyle Howard that didn't pan out, the fashion mogul found her forever-mate in William Tell.

She was set up with the law student/musician on a blind date—on Valentine's Day in 2012—and her pals, at least, knew he was "the One" for her right away. Conrad and Tell married on Sept. 13, 2014, and are now parents to sons Liam and Charlie.

Kristin Cavallari

The star who started it all on Laguna Beach before swooping into The Hills' fifth season shared on April 2020, that she and Chicago Bears alum Jay Cutler were getting divorced after almost seven years of marriage. They shared three children together: sons Camden and Jaxon and daughter Saylor.

"With great sadness, after 10 years together we have come to a loving conclusion to get a divorce," Cavallari shared on Instagram at the time. "We have nothing but love and respect for one another and are deeply grateful for the years shared, memories made, and the children we are so proud of. This is just the situation of two people growing apart."

Following the divorce, Cavallari dated comedian Jeff Dye for five months before splitting in March 2021

In February 2024, she debuted her romance with former college football star Mark Estes.

Audrina Patridge

The love of Audrina's life remains daughter Kirra, her child with ex-husband Corey Bohan.

Patridge filed for divorce from Bohan in September 2017 after less than a year of marriage, before their split was ultimately finalized in December 2018.

Patridge dated Ryan Cabrera for awhile (again) in 2018 and was linked to L.A. bar owner Matt Chase, whom she met through Jason Wahler, the following year.

Despite a cozy-looking dinner date with music scion Sean Stewart in November 2020, a source said she had a great time but wasn't looking to get serious with anyone.

In December 2022, a source confirmed to E! News that she started dating her Was It Real? podcast producer Jarod Einsohn.

Heidi Montag

In what had to be The Hills' most unexpected (or most obvious?) legacy, Heidi and her pot-stirring boyfriend Spencer Pratt went the distance, doggedly making it work through everything from broken friendships and frayed family ties, to sex tape rumors and I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here, to plastic surgery and copious amounts of money spent on crystals. Their Speidi sense saw them through it all.

They eloped and swapped vows in Mexico on Nov. 20, 2008, then re-sealed the deal in front of family and friends (and cameras) on April 25, 2009, in Pasadena, Calif. Their son Gunner was born in 2017 and his little brother Ryker arrived in 2022.

Whitney Port

The lifestyle entrepreneur went the no-drama route in love, meeting Tim Rosenman—a producer on her Hills spin-off The City—and marrying him on Nov. 7, 2015.

They welcomed son Sonny in 2017 and have been open about their fetility journey to expand their family, with Whitney sharing that both she and a surrogate suffered pregnancy losses

Lauren Bosworth

In 2019, the Love Wellness founder was dating Kitu Life CEO Jimmy DeCicco, a Shark Tank alum. They were Yankee-game-and-St.-Barths-vacation-level serious at least, but appearances on each other's 'grams dwindled in 2020 as Lo focused on self-care and expanding her business.

That mission proved a raging success, as Love Wellness products can now be found at Target and Ulta.

Jason Wahler

After not being able to do right by Lauren on the show and racking up multiple drinking-related arrests, Wahler eventually got clean and found long-term love with Ashley Stack. They married in 2013 and Stack's been with him through thick and thin, including when he fell off the wagon in 2018 and sought treatment to get his sobriety back on track.

They're parents to daughter Delilah (born 2017) and son Wyatt (born 2021).

Stephanie Pratt

Spencer's little sis refrained from dating much in the spotlight, but when she was on the British reality show Made in Chelsea, tabloids on that side of the Atlantic started keeping a close watch. In 2016, she was rumored to be dating fellow reality TV star Joey Essex after they appeared together on another show called Celebs Go Dating.

In a joint appearance on This Morning, Joey revealed that he and Stephanie had been on a date in real life—and that he bought her a puppy.

Since then, she's been linked to  Bachelor in Paradise alum Derek Peth and Jonny Mitchell.

Brody Jenner

The former Prince of Malibu seemingly married Kaitlynn Carter, in 2018 ceremony in Bali. However, during an episode of The Hills: New Beginnings in 2019, they confirmed it was never a legal union.

The couple broke up that summer, with Carter briefly dating Miley Cyrus, and Brody striking up a short romance with Josie Canseco in the wake of the split.

Jenner was linked to TikToker Daisy Keech and stylist Briana Jungworth—who shares son Freddie with Louis Tomlinson—before finding love with surfer Tia Blanco in 2022.

He and Blanco welcomed daughter Honey in August 2023.

Justin Bobby

In real life he's known as Justin Brescia, and Audrina's ex had slid into the DMs of model and restaurant investor Lindsey Pelas years ago but they didn't go on a date until around October 2018, when he was about to shoot The Hills: New Beginnings. But Pelas didn't sound concerned about him rekindling any flames on the show.

"I know that they have a history, but you know, I think we all have our history so I really don't pry too much into it," Pelas told Life & Style in October 2019. She continued, "I don't worry about it. I think that if it's meant to be, that's not something to worry about anyway. So I really don't spend much of this relationship worrying about anything."

There aren't any recent signs of life in that universe.

Holly Montag

Heidi's big sis got sober, got her master's degree in clinical mental health counseling and founded Women's Recovery in Colorado. These days she leads a private life with Richie Wilson, her husband since September 2014. They welcomed son Isaiah in May 2015.

Frankie Delgado

"Brody's friend" turned "Lauren's friend"—and then "Brody's friend" again—became "Jennifer Acosta's husband" in 2013 and they are now "Isabella and Francis' parents."

Frankie called his family his "greatest treasure" in an Easter 2020 Instagram post.

(E! and Bravo are both members of the NBCUniversal family.)
