Multi-faceted Brazilian Mayra Dias Gomes has been empowering fans by sharing her personal journey to sobriety, stating "it's not too late to start something new and to become the best version of yourself."

Mayra is best known for being a cover model and for playing the role of May Valentine in the NWA (a prestigious pro wrestling company, owned by Billy Corgan of the Smashing Pumpkins), but Mayra Dias Gomes has a unique and empowering life story. The Rio de Janeiro native moved to Hollywood on her own at 21 years old.

She wrote her first novel at age 16, during the turmoil of adolescence, and became a bestselling author by the time she was just 19. Her honesty in talking about the struggles she faced as a young girl, such as depression and addiction, conquered the hearts of teens. She went on to write two other novels in her home country and became a writer for Rolling Stone, Glamour, The Hollywood Reporter, VH1 and MTV.

One night, while watching a women's match in the WWE, she felt inspired and empowered, and decided she wanted to become a professional wrestler. She moved to Las Vegas to attend a wrestling school and lived in hotels and casinos. A few months later, she was discovered by Billy Corgan, who brought her into wrestling.

Mayra Dias Gomes shares that despite accomplishing so many incredible things at such a young age, she only began to live to her true potential after she became sober, and that sobriety turned her into an empowered female boss.

According to Perez Hilton, Mayra has recently received numerous brand deal opportunities in fashion, swimwear, perfume and lingerie.

"I had to wrestle my demons to get to where I am today, and I want others to know it is possible to do the same. It's not too late to start something new, and to become the best version of yourself", she tells E! News.
