When it comes to the love Travis Kelce has for his brother Jason Kelce, there's no end zone.
At the 2023 Super Bowl on Feb. 12, the Kansas City Chiefs faced off against the Philadelphia Eagles, making the Kelce duo the first brothers in NFL history to play against each other during the championship game. And after the Chiefs beat the Eagles (38 -35), Travis—who serves as tight end for the Kansas City team—shared the complexities of celebrating his victory.
Cue all the emotions that came with the confetti.
"There's nothing you can really say to a loved one in a situation like that," he said, choking up at times, in a postgame interview shared to NFL on Fox's TikTok. "You know, you joke around all the time and say you want to beat your brother in the biggest stage ever, but it's a weird feeling."
Sharing compliments to the Eagles, of which Jason plays as center, Travis continued, "And that team had great leadership, great coaches. Obviously, it came down to the end and we got all the respect in the world for those Eagles, man."
As the 33-year-old noted, despite not having all the words as he embraced his older brother on the field just moments after the game, their bond knows no bounds.
"There's really nothing I could say to him other than I love him," Travis added. "And he played a hell of a year, hell of a season."
Prior to their 2023 face-off, both Jason, 35, and Travis earned Super Bowl wins with their respective teams. In 2018, Jason and the Philadelphia Eagles won against the New England Patriots at Super Bowl LII. Two years later, Travis and the Chiefs were victorious in their game against the San Francisco 49ers.
And just days before going up against each other, both Travis and Jason reflected on watching each other raise the Vince Lombardi Trophy.
"As a brother it feels tremendously different when your brother wins," Jason said during the Feb. 10 episode of their New Heights podcast. "I think when you win a Super Bowl, there's an intense amount of, like, self-gratification feels good. Watching your brother win, it's better in certain ways, 'cause it's like you're watching a loved one accomplish their dreams for the first time."
He added, "It's just such an intensely opposite feeling from when you win it that you can't help but be overjoyed for someone that you love that has just done the greatest thing in their sport."
