New year, new banger.

After weeks of teasing that new music was on the horizon, Miley Cyrus just dropped her highly-anticipated single, "Flowers." In her latest track, the Voice alum sings all about being able to "love me better than you can."

Miley seems to call out an ex by singing about how they "built a home and watched it burn / I didn't want to leave / I didn't want to lie / Started to cry but then remembered I / I can buy myself flowers."

The empowering video shows her working out and gaining her strength, embracing her self-love and independence after a split.

The 30-year-old's song comes nearly two weeks after she first dropped hints about her return to music, sharing a quick soundbite of the single Dec. 31. In her original announcement posted to Instagram, the singer revealed the release date of the track would be Jan. 13—which also just so happens to be her ex-husband Liam Hemsworth's birthday.

(In subsequent posts, Miley noted her single would debut during different time zones, kickstarting Jan. 12 in the U.S. and Jan 13 in other parts of the world simultaneously—include Liam's native Australia).

And though Miley has not commented on whether her latest song was meant to debut on her ex's birthday, her lyrics still speak of self-love reigning supreme over a seemingly ill-fated romance.

In fact, prior to its release, she teased her song's lyrics by sharing a few slides to Instagram Jan. 4, which read, "I can buy myself flowers. I can take myself dancing. I can hold my own hand. I can love me better than you can."

After dating on-and-off for nearly a decade, Miley and Liam tied the knot in 2018. In November of that year, their house in Malibu burned down in a wildfire.

Less than a year later, the Hunger Games star, 32, filed for divorce.

Both have since moved on, with Miley enjoying a "very serious" romance with musician Maxx Morando since 2021. As for Liam, he and girlfriend Gabriella Brooks made their red carpet debut in November 2022 after three years of dating.
