The #BookTok tag on the popular social media platform has more than 94 billion views, proving so many feeds are all about the reads. (Sorry, we'll see ourselves out.) When it came to that hashtag, there were certain books that dominated the conversation, and Google has released the top trending searches from the past year.
While several new releases made the list, including Emily Henry's most recent rom-com and Colleen Hoover's sequel to one of her bestsellers, the majority of the "trending" queries were actually novels that were published several years ago. For example, 2018's Where the Crawdads Sing saw an uptick in traffic upon the release of its film adaptation in July, while several steamy romance novels have managed to keep readers coming back for more.
