All's fair in love and The Voice.

Two years since winning season 19 of the competition series with team member Carter Rubin in 2020, Gwen Stefani is back as a coach on the new season of The Voice, which returns Sept. 19 on NBC. And though she's in it to win it, the artist admitted that was skeptical of returning to the show after tying the knot with husband (and fellow coach) Blake Shelton in 2021.

"I was really nervous to come back this season, being married to Blake. I don't know why," she said in an exclusive interview with E! News' Erin Lim Rhodes. "It'd just been a while and I didn't know what we were gonna act like."

Luckily, her nerves calmed the moment she stepped back on set with Blake, having first met on the show back in 2014. "It was very surreal," the 52-year-old recalled. "It was very romantic for me. And then, it was supernatural. We never talked about it, we just went and it was perfect."

But just because the two are in love doesn't mean they aren't willing to fight dirty, as the "Sweet Escape" singer said The Voice brings out her competitive side. "I'm not a competitive person," she revealed. "I don't think I'm very competitive as a human being. I don't play games outside The Voice."

Between Gwen and Blake, coach John Legend teased that the fans need to watch out for the former this season, saying, "I think she's more competitive than she used to be, and he's less competitive."

Blake agreed he may not be as tough toward his fellow coaches with his wife in the lineup, joking, "It's a lot harder to break up when you're married."

"We can have a huge fight about something that happens on The Voice, and be like, 'Alright, we're not gonna get a divorce over that,'" the country star continued. "So, yeah, you're willing to push it a little further."

The new season of The Voice premieres Monday, Sept. 19, at 8 p.m. on NBC.
