Things between Tayshia Adams and Zac Clark were thorny for a while before their split.

A source close to Tayshia tells E! News that the couple, who got engaged in 2020 during the 16th season finale of The Bachelorette, "haven't been getting along the last couple of months."

"Both of their busy schedules have been keeping them apart and their communication hasn't been great," the insider explains. "They were arguing a lot and decided it would be best to split."

The source says Zac, a co-founder of the Release Recovery addiction treatment center, "was pushing for the split more" than Tayshia, who has been serving as the co-host of The Bachelorette alongside Kaitlyn Bristowe since Chris Harrison's departure from the ABC franchise this summer.

Adds the insider, "Tayshia is definitely really upset but knows it's for the best right now."

Moreover, it seems that the duo weren't on the same page when it came to their relationship.

As a source close to Zac explains to E! News, "Tayshia and Zac didn't see eye to eye on several important issues and ultimately realized a long-term relationship between the two of them wouldn't work out."

News of Tayshia and Zac's breakup came less than a year after the pair got engaged on The Bachelorette. Just weeks before a rep for Tayshia confirmed to E! News that the pair are "no longer a couple," the duo had been seen running the New York City marathon together.

At the time, Zac praised Tayshia's "humility and courage" and shared photos of the two at the race.

"She said she was going to do something and she did it," he wrote on his Instagram. "No one will remember her ‘time' but the fact that she went out and ran (check the hundreds of videos online - there was very little walking) this race in 4 hours and 40 minutes is heroic and shows the power of believing in yourself."

A source previously told E! News that Tayshia, who moved from California to New York City to live with Zac, will continue to stay in the Big Apple after the split.
