Alex Rodriguez had Jennifer Lopez on his mind this weekend.
As the former couple separately celebrated their birthdays in St. Tropez on July 24, the New York Yankees alum was spotted showing some love to his ex on social media. Proving there's no bad blood between the pair, Rodriguez "liked" a birthday tribute to the singer, posted to Instagram by her sister Lynda Lopez.
"My original BFF, I love you more than words can say," Lynda wrote alongside a selfie with Jennifer. "Not only are you the most fun, and my ride or die, You light the world and show me what's possible and are my inspiration always. Sometimes I can't believe I was so lucky that God put the beautiful soul that is you into my life. Wishing you your best birthday yet!"
While A-Rod showed his support for J.Lo publicly, a source close to the "Dance Again" artist tells E! News the former athlete also reached out to her privately. According to the insider, Alex "texted her a nice message" wishing her a happy birthday.
Though Jennifer has moved on with Ben Affleck, the source confirms she and Alex are "on cordial terms and do communicate about their joint ventures." However, the insider notes, "Once J.Lo became more serious with Ben, the communication became even more limited."
A second insider also confirms Alex reached out to Jennifer to wish her a happy birthday. "He values her friendship and her partnership. He wishes her well and her kids well," the source tells E! News. "They don't communicate much but they do have a lot of businesses together."
The insider adds, "Alex is enjoying his time with his friends and family. He's in a great place. He's happy with where he is in his life and he's having fun spending time with his team, friends and family."
Shortly after Alex and Jennifer announced their breakup in April, she rekindled her romance with Ben. Since then, the stars—who were previously engaged in the early aughts—have been nearly inseparable. In fact, the Oscar winner was by his leading lady's side as she rang in her 52nd birthday. The pair even had fans on the floor with photos from their yacht celebration, which included major PDA. "5 2 … what it do," the "Let's Get Loud" artist captioned a series of Instagram pics, including one snap of her and Ben kissing.
The couple's getaway to the South of France follows just weeks after Jennifer declared she's having the "best time" of her life right now. "I'm super happy," she told Apple Music's Zane Lowe in early July. "I know people are always wondering, 'How are you? What's going on? Are you okay?' This is it. I've never been better."
Though Jennifer, who shares 13-year-old twins with ex Marc Anthony, and Ben, who has three kids with ex Jennifer Garner, have been going strong since their romantic reunion in May, a source recently told E! News they're not in a rush to get married. "They have been meshing their lives and families and don't feel the need to get engaged yet or even tie the knot," the insider shared. "They have both been there and don't feel it's necessary."
"They are both very secure within their relationship and Ben worships her," the source continued. "It's truly meant to be and everyone around them thinks they are a perfect match."
