E! News has learned that the couple told Harry's family, including his grandparents Queen Elizabeth II and her husband Prince Philip, as well as their son and heir, the duke's dad Prince Charles, about Meghan's pregnancy in advance.
A Buckingham Palace spokesperson told NBC News in a statement, "Her Majesty The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Prince of Wales and the entire family are 'delighted' and wish them well."
Along with their announcement, the couple—who tied the knot in May 2018—shared a sweet picture taken by photographer Misan Harriman. In the snap, taken outdoors under a gorgeous display of trees, Harry can be seen smiling at his wife, who is lying on his legs, with one hand on her growing baby bump.
"Meg, I was there at your wedding to witness this love story begin, and my friend, I am honoured to capture it grow," Misan captioned the announcement photo on social media. "Congratulations to The Duke and Duchess of Sussex on this joyous news!"
