The Seinfeld reunion has begun.

Julia Louis-Dreyfus says that she and her famous costars—Jerry Seinfeld, Jason Alexander and Michael Richards—began shooting their multiple-episode appearance on Larry David’s Curb Your Enthusiasm last month.

"It was really fun to get together with everybody," Louis-Dreyfus told me today. "Frankly, it was as if we never left."

And there’s more fun to come. "We're shooting again this month and in May," she said. "We have a lot more work to do."

No surprise, everyone has been sworn to secrecy...

Louis-Dreyfus can't even reveal if they're riffing on their legendary Seinfeld characters. "I really can't say," she said. "I'm sorry. I would if I could, but I'm not allowed."

(Louis-Dreyfus and Alexander have both appeared on previous seasons of Curb Your Enthusiasm playing themselves.)

The episodes will presumably air in the fall when Curb Your Enthusiasm finally returns to HBO.

I caught up with Louis-Dreyfus at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel, where she was helping present a $250,000 check from Healthy Choice to the hunger-relief organization Feeding America.

"It's a whole ton of dough, especially in today's recession," she said. "It's very hard [to feed the poor]. And it's getting harder because, obviously, these times are tough. It's a huge problem and challenge in our country. How is that possible? It doesn't make sense."

Perhaps she can discuss the issue with our elected officials when she heads to Washington, D.C., next month for the White House Correspondents Association Dinner. The annual mishmash of celebs and Beltway insiders will be headlined by her New Adventures of Old Christine costar and Curb regular Wanda Sykes.

"I'd been invited to go in the past administration, but I didn't want to schlep all the way there for them," Louis-Dreyfus said. "But now I'm going and I cannot wait!"
