Now, even though everyone knows E! Online's Tater Tops are the only TV awards that really matter, sometimes people do enjoy winning this little known thing called an "Emmy award." If you're into that kind of thing, E! alum Tom O'Neil scooped the list of the top 10 candidates for Best Drama and Best Comedy on his Gold Derby blog. Read on to find out who made the cut...

Best Drama Finalists
24 ("Day 6: 6 a.m. - 7 a.m.")
Boston Legal ("Angel of Death")
Dexter ("Born Free")
Friday Night Lights ("Pilot")
Grey's Anatomy ("From a Whisper to a Scream")
Heroes ("Genesis")
House ("Half-Wit")
Lost ("Through the Looking Glass")
Rome ("De Patre Vostro")
The Sopranos ("Soprano Home Movies")

Best Comedy Finalists
30 Rock ("Hard Ball")
Desperate Housewives ("It Takes Two")
Entourage ("One Day in the Valley")
Extras ("Daniel Radcliffe")
My Name Is Earl ("Robbed a Stoner Blind")
The Office ("The Coup")
Scrubs ("My Musical")
Two and a Half Men ("Apologies for the Frivolity")
Ugly Betty ("Pilot")
Weeds ("Cooking with Jesus")

From these lists, the powers that be pick the final nominations, which are announced in the wee hours of July 19. (Korbi and Jen will be there live to bring you the nominations announcements as soon as they're made, so pencil in a visit to the blog that morning!)  The awards themselves are handed out Sept. 16.

The judges who made these selections viewed the episode in parentheses before making their decisions. Do you guys agree with the episodes selected as samples for the judges? (Like "Soprano Home Movies"? For reals?)

Anyway, from the Department of Perpetual Disappointment, you should know that notable noncandidates include: Battlestar Galactica, Big Love, Brothers & Sisters, Deadwood, Everybody Hates Chris, How I Met Your Mother, The New Adventures of Old Christine, Rescue Me, The Riches, The Shield, The Tudors and, of course, one of the all-time great non-nominated shows, Veronica frickin' Mars.

Thankfully, our Tater Top Awards—decided on and handed out solely by you fans—will be coming out shortly, so you can right any Emmy wrongs.
