The Office: Steve Carell, Melora Hardin

Justin Lubin/NBC

Ladies and gentletubers, there is a plan in place for The Office.

At least, that's what I'm now hearing from inside sources—that NBC reached an agreement late this afternoon with The Office for next season: 24 episodes, including 4 hour-long specials.

Obviously, this is a scaled-down version of the initial idea to make every episode an hour, but it's still good news for us fans, no?

Meanwhile, still no word on whether Scrubs will return next season. But I am hearing that NBC's Bionic Woman and the CW's Gossip Girl (from O.C. creator Josh Schwartz) are a go.

Check back tomorrow for a roundup of all the pilot buzz—what's likely to get picked up or left out in the cold.
